Apostle Eric Nyamekye, who has been nominated as the new Chairman of the Church of Pentecost (COP), to take over from Apostle Prof Opoku Onyinah has received an overwhelming endorsement by the Electoral College of the church.

As part of the church’s process to elect a new chairman, its Electoral College Thursday, May 3, 2018, held an election where the chairman nominee – Apostle Eric Nyamekye polled 147 ‘Yes’ votes out of the total 151 votes. Only four people voted “No”.

What is left is for the COP general council to confirm him as the next chairman.

Currently the area head of Koforidua in the Eastern Region, Apostle Nyamekye would replace Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah who is retiring on Saturday May 5, 2017.

The church will on August 26, 2018 hold a retirement service at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC) at Gomoa Feteh in the Central Region for Apostle Prof Onyinah who is retiring after 42-years of service.

The 64-year-old Apostle Onyinah took over from Apostle Dr. Michael Ntumy in 2008 as the fifth chairman of the COP.
