Former Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Murtala Ibrahim Mohammed has observed that the President, his vice and the 111 Ministers have graduated from corruption to thievery.

According to him, what the country is experiencing under the watch of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the current dispensation is not corruption but plain thievery accusing the President of covering such acts being perpetrated by his appointees.

“To be very honest, what we are experiencing under this government is not corruption, is thievery, so if you look at just the number Ghanaians may not appreciate the reason why the NDC have a problem with the number, the number comes with a cost, how must are we spending on that?” he asked on Radio Tamale in an interview MyNewsGh.com monitored.

The President at a recent Africa investment forum in South Africa, touted his administration’s efforts in corruption fight indicating that aside from the establishment of the office of the Special Prosecutor, he has ensured that any allegation is investigated by an independent body.

“There is also the attitude of those of us who are in office or instance if members of my administration are indulging in corrupt acts, any time an allegation is made, I have seen to it that it is investigated,” he explained.

But the former Nanton lawmaker who disagrees with the stance of the president described him as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of corruption clearing keeping 111 needless ministers

“There have been several cases of corruption in the country that have gone unnoticed”, stating that, the president has reduced himself to Chief Executive of “corruption clearing” in Ghana. President Akufo-Addo has become chief executive of corruption clearing in this country. The Flagstaff house is the head it and president is the chief executive, the vice president is the deputy chief executive. And the needless one hundred and eleven (111) ministers are the employees of that corruption clearing agency”, he alleged.

On claims allegations of corruption against the current administration was a deliberate attempt to denigrate the image of the president he said “Akufo-Addo has no image again to be marred, he is damaged product. How much were you paying fuel for your car? In Tamale, I enjoy using a motorbike when I get to Tamale, You could buy fuel for just 5 cedis in your mapouka (motorcycle) and use it for three (3) days. Today, how much is fuel?…he quiz. “Even 20 cedis you can’t use it for a day”, he asked
