Ghanaian actress Nana Ama Mcbrown was born Felicity Ama Agyemang and has been acting for a long time. She’s also a songwriter and tv presenter who grew up in Kwadaso.
Nana Ama McBrown’s Early Life
Nana Ama Mcbrown was born on 15th August 1970. Her parents are Kwabena Nkrumah and Cecilia Agyenum Boateng, but they divorced when she was very young. She has 6 siblings and after her parents divorced, her mother couldn’t cater for all of them, so they were adopted by Kofi McBrown and her aunt, Madam Betty Obiri Yeboah.
So that explains why she has the surname, Mcbrown and not that of her biological father.
Nana Ama attended St. Peters International Residential school and moved to Minnesota International and later to Central International.
She later continued to L.A.J.S.S where she dropped out of in J.SS. 2. According to her her parents didn’t have money then to make her continue. In a story we published here, she said; “I Dropped Out Of JSS Because My Parents Were Unable To Finance My Education. I Don’t Have A Certificate Even Though I Wish I Had” She Disclosed To The Shock Of Students At The Kwame Nkrumah University Of Science And Technology (KNUST) During This Year’s Edition Of ‘Tek Talk’.
Nana Ama McBrown got into acting when she was picked to do costuming by Miracle Films but the director realised that she was good and after trying her, he gave her the lead role and her first movie which was released in 2001 was a movie titled ‘That Day’ which featured the likes of the late Bob Santo, Judas, and several popular actors back then.
She then featured in the TV series, ‘Tentacles’ and in 2007 she played the lead role in the movie ‘Asoreba’ a very popular movie back then.
Nana Ama McBrown’s popularity increased when she featured in another popular movie ‘Kumasi Yonko’ which had the likes of Agya Koo, Kwaku Tsumasi, Paa George and Portia Asare.
Since then she has been starred in several movies in the past, both Kumawood and Ghallywood. She’s acted in Kafui Danku’s ‘I DO’ movie and her most recent at the time of this post is ‘Side Chic Gang’

The ‘Madam Moke’ actress has acted in many movies and has numerous awards to her credit which includes Best/English Actress, Best Actress in Leading Role, Best Traditional movie and Best Story at the 2011 Kumawood Awards.
She also won the favorite Actress at the 2016 Ghana Movie Awards and Eurostar Best Dressed Female Celebrity on the red carpet at the 2016 Ghana Movie Awards.
She also won Golden Actress in a comedy movie with the movie Side Chic Gang at the Golden Movie Awards this year.
Nana Ama got married to her longtime boyfriend Maxwell Mensah in 2016 and it was reported earlier this year that she’s pregnant.
It was reported that in 2004, Nana Ama dated briefly Ghanaian musician, Okyeame Kwame.
Nana Ama Mcbrown knows how to keep a clean brand. She stays away from scandals and controversies and there have not been any known scandals of her in the last 5 years.
Nana Ama Mcbrown gives back to society each time. In February this year, she and her husband donated to the Cape Coast school for the blind.
Her Current Life
Nana Ama Mcbrown is the current host of a tv show ‘McBrown’s Kitchen’ where she invites celebrities to cook on the show and asks them questions about their lives. She’s definitely an A-list celebrity and one that people really admire a lot.
Nana Ama McBrown was named the brand ambassador for Kasapreko’s Royal Drinks in July 2018.
