A 32-year-old identified as Julius Michael Kwabena Okraku was a victim of the Adenta-Madina highway carnage.
Julius met his untimely death on July 31, 2018 at the Adenta Kenkey Junction when he was crossing the road from Sakora a suburb in Adenta where he went to visit his mother.
His girlfriend is believed to be pregnant for him.
At the Adenta Kenkey junction, a car hit him and he died before he got to the hospital.
According to eyewitnesses, he was knocked by a private Ford Escape vehicle at about 7:30pm who claimed he didn’t see him when questioned and when he realized, the deceased was close to him so he hit him.
The highway has now become a death trap to pedestrians who now live in fear due to the consistent knockdowns on the road due to the absence of footbridges which leads to the instant death of victims and just a few lucky ones surviving.
The residents of Adenta who have raged in anger for so long, blocked the road as a sign of displeasure when another pedestrian was knocked down on Thursday.
The residents are angry not only for this accident but for the about 193 lives that had been lost on the road this year.
The Ministry of Roads and Transport has since given the assurance that it would start the construction of the footbridge on the Adentan-Madina Road at the end of this month and complete by the first quarter of 2019.
