Ghanaian actress Martha Ankomah in a recent interview seems to have made shocking revelations concerning the movie industry.
According to the screen goddess, many movie personalities shoot movies without getting paid and that they continue to do the work because they want to keep the movie industry going.
The actress who doubles up as an ambassador for Glo called on investors to help the struggling movie industry.
“Most of us are just trying to make a living; most of us are just trying to earn something and we are putting so much effort to put smiles on people’s face on TV and all that even though the industry in this country is so bad. We even shoot movies and we don’t even get paid” she told Mzgee in an interview on Joynews.
Martha Ankomah delving in the Gabby Otchere-Darko’s brouhaha with movie personalities said that instead of criticizing the industry, it will be prudent if he can talk to the government or private investors to invest in the movie industry.
The actress also stated that one of the factors affecting the industry is that most of the TV stations are flooded with Telenovelas such as Mexican soap operas, Hindi movies etc.
Comparing the Ghana industry to the Nigerian movie industry, the beautiful actress stated that every state in Nigeria have a cinema;hence you get your money back after shooting but same can not be said in Ghana which can boast of only 3 cinemas in the country.
Martha Ankomah used the platform to plead with investors to come to the aid of the movie industry to revive it since a strong industry will create employment for Ghanaians and also bring revenue to the country.
