Jesse Lingard shows off hilarious picture of him as a kid… and how Manchester United star’s physique has turned from scrawny to ripped
Jesse Lingard has become the latest Manchester United star to take part in the #10YearChallenge.
The latest craze sweeping social media sees users share photos of themselves a decade apart.
Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Antonio Valencia were all given the #10YearChallenge treatment by their club on Tuesday and now Lingard has taken to Instagram to get involved.
Lingard appeared to take the challenge one step further, sharing a picture that seemed to look beyond the 10-year time frame.
He joined United at the age of seven, leaving fans to wonder whether the photo dates back to around 2000.
The image shows Lingard posing in just a pair shorts with some abs drawn onto his body. Alongside that picture is modern day Lingard showing off his ripped physique and genuine six-pack.
Lingard has become an influential member of United’s turnaround since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer joined the club as caretaker manager. The Red Devils have won all six of the Norwegian’s games in charge, including a 1-0 win over Tottenham last time out.
United shared an image of Pogba during his days in the club’s youth team and unsurprisingly had a rather different hairstyle a decade ago.
Having joined the Old Trafford side in July 2009, Pogba departed the club three years later having made just seven appearances.
He rejoined in a then world record £89million deal in 2016, and has thrived under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s management in the past six games.
Nemanja Matic was also selected, and the Serbian midfielder looked very different with longer hair as he was pictured playing for his national team.
In the decade since, Matic has played for Kosice, Chelsea twice and Benfica before his move to his current club in 2017.
The only player of the three to have been at the club for the entire decade is Antonio Valencia, who signed for £16m from Wigan in June 2009 and has gone on to make 338 appearances for the club.
