Persons who steal underwear with intention of using them for ritual purposes leading to the death of the owners will no longer be charged for stealing but murder according to a police source, MyNewsGh.com reports.
Using of female underwear for ritual purposes is assuming an alarming proportion in neighbouring Nigeria with officials of the Nigerian Police Force claiming the only way to curtail this practice is to charge offenders for attempted murder since the ultimate goal of their action is related to death.
Famous Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo who gave the hint on her Instagram page, revealed that the stand of the police in cases like this.
According to her, claims of premature deaths in relation to underwear theft is becoming one too many which has informed their decision to prosecute such suspects on charges of attempted murder.
She wrote;“What is the in thing about increase in stealing of underpants?! Learntthe ones caught in the act always confess to be using it for rituals whereof the owner dies prematurely….. Henceforth anyone caught stealing pants might not be charged for stealing but attempted murder. This has to stop.”
