The District Chief Executive for Bosomtwe District, Lawyer J. k Asuming has cut sod for the construction of Community-based Health Planning and Service (CHPS) compound that will serve the people of Akokofe and its environs.
The project which is being funded through the District Development Facility (DDF) after its completion will help provide quality healthcare to the Akokofe community.
The Assembly member for the area, Mr. James Opoku in his welcome address said one of his priority was to help the town get a health facility and this is a dream come through. He commended the D. C. E. for bringing such a project to his people.
Madam Priscilla, a nurse also said, they were happy when they heard that a new health facility was going to be built for them to operate there. This is because the existing one is not able to accommodate them. She appealed to D. C. E. and the contractor to ensure the project is completed within the stipulated time.
The linguist of Akokofe said, he was happy that the people of Akokofe are also getting their share of the national cake. He appealed to the contractor and the D. C. E. to ensure that unnecessary delay in completing the project is avoided.
Hon J. K. Asuming Esq. expressed that the government is doing a lot of things in Bosomtwe District. Thus from construction of roads, classroom blocks and others. He said the people of Akokofe had petitioned the assembly to build a health facility for them. So he has responded positively towards them to build a CHPs Compound for them. He continued that all the funds for the completion of the project is available and the contractor has been given a period of nine months to complete it. He said in addition to the CHPs Compound is two apartment to accommodate the staff and a borehole.
He praised them for keeping the Akokofe town clean and urged them to continue to make the Akokofe one of the cleanest town in the region. He also tasked the contractor to employ the indigenous people to work for him. He advised the town folks to remain loyal and support the contractor.
After the meeting at the Durbar grounds, the delegation were led to the site allocated for the construction of the CHPs Compound. The groundbreaking ceremony ended with the D. C. E. and the chief cutting the sod for the commencement of the project.
