The two armed robbers were charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery while the fetish priests who supported the two robbers with spiritual powers were convicted for abetement of crime.
According to the Crime Officer of the Ejura Police Command, ASP Emmanuel Kyei-Sarpong the two armed robbers, Shaibu Zakari and Adam Ibrahim, attacked a 27-year-old mobile money vendor, Ibrahim Abdulai, with a club and robbed him of his mobile phones as well as come cash.
While the robbers were bolting, the victim raised an alarm and the two robbers were apprehended by some residents and handed over to the police.
During police interrogation, the robbers revealed that two fetish priests, Kwabena Ofori and Fuseini Isahaku, provided spiritual powers and protection for them.
The robbers revealed that they in turn shared their stolen booty with the fetish priests being their payment.
Based on this revelation, the police promptly arrested the fetish priests and arraigned them together with the robbers before court and subsequently convicted the robbers for conspiracy to rob and robbery while the priests were convicted on abetment of crime.
Delivering his judgment, the Presiding Judge tampered justice with mercy given that they were first time offenders, hence sentencing them to a lenient 15 years each.
