The Bosomtwe District Assembly through the Scholarship Secretariat has grant scholarships to thirty eight brilliant but needy tertiary students within the district.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony at the District Assembly conference Hall at Kuntanase, the District Chief Executive, Lawyer Joseph Kwasi Asuming disclosed that the Government was committed to making education as accessible as possible to all Ghanaian of school going age, as demonstrated by huge investment in that area.
Hon. Asuming expressed that fifty seven students applied and was interviewed but the District Scholarship Review Committee reccomended thirty eight to be given the scholarship.
He added that the scholarship package would pay for the tuition fee of the students in any accredited tertiary institution in Ghana, including private tertiary institutions.
Daniel Kofi Fofie, a Level 300 student of the University of Education, Winneba- Kumasi campus a beneficiary, on behalf his colleagues said, the scholarship had come as a motivation to move them on to achieve their dreams.
He pledged that they would work assiduously to achieve their academic goals and the objectives for instituting the Scholarship award as well as give back to society.
Another beneficiary, Akonamanda Mavis, a Level 300 Geography and Rural Development student of KNUST, commended the District Chief Executive for offering them with the scholarship to give them the peace of mind to focus on their education, describing the scholarship as ‘coming at the right time’.
She commended their parents for making a lot of sacrifices to support their education thus far, while urging colleagues to live up to expectation and never let the District Assembly down.
