E/R: 559 people displaced after landslides cause floods

 

TheNewsGh.Com can confirm that five hundred and fifty-nine (559) people at Akyem Bosuso in the Eastern Region have been rendered homeless after landslides caused floods.

The landslide which occurred after a four-hour heavy downpour displaced about 77 homes.

A mountainous range around the community came rushing down whiles water rushed out of it.

The flood is said to have collapsed about 6 buildings in the area and citizens have been struck with fear as they fear the incident might occur again.

The incident which occurred on October 21, 2019, has caused the closure of some basic schools including the Bosuso Roman Catholic Basic School.

The incident was confirmed by The Fanteakwa South District Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Maxwell Owusu Bannerman whiles describing it as devastating.

“it was very serious 559 people were affected, 77 households affected, 6 houses collapsed.It is a perennial problem but what happened was too serious.We need logistics like life jacket to help save people in such situations” he said.
