The Municipal Chief Executive for Kwabre East, Hon. Nana Osei Asibey Bonsu, on behalf of the Government took the mantle to deliver 30,000 cocoa seedlings to 100 farmers at the just ended 35th National Farmers Day.
The event took place at Adanwomaso in the Kwabre East Municipal.
In a Welcoming speech, the M.C.E said, ” On this special occasion, I deemed it a great pleasure and honour to formally welcome our gallant farmers, special guests and all of you distinguished personalities to Adanwomase for your participation in the 35th National Farmers Day Commemoration. I have no doubt that you will enjoy your short stay with us at Adanwomase.”
He then made it known to the available farmers and other distinguished participants the enormous effort government has made in making the event a possibility.
The M.C.E then added that, the government has also secured a loan to open up roads in the communities to enable farmers to easily bring their farm products to the nearby markets.
The theme for the event was dubbed, ” Enhancing Small Scale Agriculture Towards Agribusiness Development.
Ending his speech, he took the opportunity to thank the youth present and those at their respective homes to take farming serious since it also serves as a means of employment.
“I really want to encourage the youth to consider farming as a means to get employment. You must not consider farming to be t he preserve for uneducated and the aged but see it as a means to create employment for yourself.” He said.
