Speaking on the theme: “Enhancing Small Scale Agriculture towards Agribusiness Development” Nana Osei Asibey Bonsu, the Municipal Chief Executive, commended farmers for their efforts in keeping the economy secured.
He enumerated the successes chalked by Government through programmes like the Planting For Food and Jobs program, Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD) and Rearing for food and jobs Project.
He disclosed that the Assembly in collaboration with COCOBOD distributed 30,000 cocoa seedlings to farmers at Kasaam, Safo and other communities as part of the Grand Agenda to improve cocoa production in the Municipality.
He tasked the youth within the District to consider farming as a means of getting employment.
“You must not consider farming to be the preserve of the uneducated or the aged but rather see it as a means to create employment for yourselves” he said.
