Ghana has been gifted with 100 police vehicles by the Chinese Government on with the aim of assisting West African countries strengthen their law enforcement building capacity.
Wang Shiting, Chinese ambassador to Ghana, at a hand-over ceremony held in the capital Accra said, “These vehicles will play an important role in fighting crimes and protecting both Ghanaian people and foreign investors,”
Praising the increasing bilateral exchanges and progress made in the development of China-Ghana relations, Wang said that China has become Ghana’s biggest trade partner and investor.
Describing China as “a strong and reliable friend,” Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government for support to the Ghanaian police.
He expressed that the vehicles will reinforce the mobility and logistical capability of the Ghanaian police.
Most dignitaries were present at the ceremony. Present were Ghana’s Interior Minister Ambrose Dery, Inspector-General of Police James Oppong-Boanuh and other officials.
