GFA bans Asante Kotoko from Baba Yara Stadium over Sunday’s violent incident

The Ghana Football Association have banned Asante Kotoko from playing games at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

This is a swift decision taken following the violence that marred the Ghana Premier League Week 3 game between Asante Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea.

The fans pelted the referee Bulu with objects during the game and after the game, they clashed with the Police which led to one fan getting hit by a police bullet.

The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association has temporarily banned Asante Kotoko from playing its matches at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium pending the adjudication of the matter by the Disciplinary Committee.

On Monday they triggered the provision of Article 14(2) of the GFA Premier League Regulations, which states that: “the GFA may order the closure of any league centre/venue where the safety of clubs, match officials and/or spectators cannot be guaranteed.”
