Fiifi Selah of the defunct music group, TH4 Kwages has said Ghana’s Music industry is gradually dying because of too many unnatural artistes. According to him, the future of Ghanaian music industry will collapse if artistes don’t stop imitating foreign cultures. He revealed this in an interview with DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa that the current crop of musicians are too artificial and that is killing the Ghanaian Music industry.
The ‘Mother Earth’ composer stated that majority of the new artistes’ originality is questionable. According to him, there is no originality in what they do.
He stressed on how necessary it is for Ghanaian musician to work hard on their uniqueness and their brand.
Meanwhile, Selah noted that, Highlife is a borrowed genre and not original. According to him, it is mix with Blues from German composer Beethoven and that’s why it is fading out.
For the new school artistes to stand the test of time in the Ghanaian music industry, Fiifi Selah said they have to add more to their brand and style of music.
However, Fiifi touted the talent and skills of rapper Patapaa. He praised the young musician for being original.
