The Municipal Chief Executive for kwabre East, Nana Osei Asibey Bonsu have inaugrated the Census Implementation Committee for the upcoming 2020 Population and Housing Census.
Inaugurating the committee, the MCE disclosed that the Kwabre East Census Implementation Committee would be responsible for publicity and education, facilitating recruitment and training of field personnel as well as identification of suitable facilities to conduct training for enumerators and supervisors among others.
The committee he added, is also expected to mobilise stakeholder support and educate residents in the municipality on the essence of the upcoming census.
He added that the population and housing census data is very critical in the implementation of the decentralization program.
He assured all stakeholders that the Assembly would ensure that the census become successful and pleaded with everyone to avail theirselves during the field enumeration.
The Census, he said, would provide a reliable database for policy reviews and ensure systematic improvement in the implementation of Government’s ongoing policies and interventions.

Ghana conducts Population and Housing Census every 10 years to collect data about the population living in the country to guide policy decision-making. The first Census was conducted in 1891 in the then Gold Coast.
