Ghanaian actor, Seth Kwabena Kyere Karikari, widely known as Koo Fori, has stated the reasons behind his decision to stay away from politics and how it is practised in Ghana.
According to the 51-year-old popular ‘Efiewura’ series actor, the gross insults and disrespect meted out to politicians by people who do not even have the moral right to do so are so disheartening and demotivating.
In an interview with Atinka FM, a Twi-speaking radio station based in Accra, Koo Fori said, he once had political ambitions but decided to let go of it to save his face from all the disrespect and insults politicians are served with.
“The politics practised in Ghana is full of insults and disrespect and I do not want to get myself involved in such a thing.
Therefore, I decided to stay away from politcs in order to save myself from the insults and disrecpect that comes from peple who do not even have the audacity to do so but politics has given them that liberty,” he said.
He went on to advise young people to desisit from politics of insult and embrace the politics of ideas and convictions.
Koo Fori tied his reservations for politics into how Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has been verbally attacked by the New Patriotic Party after Ex-President John Dramani Mahama named her as his running mate.
